Students will use these books to think deeply about literature and their own lives. Students will work together in pairs or in book clubs. They will ultimately make connections between the lessons learned in literature and modern social issues.
My students have requested these specific titles and are eager to begin reading! These books will excite and inspire. Some titles, like Flygirl, were very popular this year. But, with only two classroom copies of Flygirl, some students did not have access to it. Adding more copies will enable more kids to read this great book! Other titles, like All American Boys, were requested by students after a local librarian gave book-talks. We are looking forward to some new, exciting reads!
