When working with students with different learning styles, it's important to ensure that they have "sensory" input throughout the day. My project will provide items that will be useful to help students stay focused and on-task in order to be able to make expected academic and behavioral progress.
I have chosen specific items that will give my students needed extra support in my classroom. Weighted lap cushions and body socks give proprioceptive support, reducing anxiety. Fidgets provide soothing stimulation for busy fingers and minds to help them settle and stay on-task in large and small group settings. A white noise machine will give auditory sensory support to help sooth anxiety and cancel out extraneous noise. For many students, these items can be the difference they need to support them in making the progress expected at school.
