These materials will help create eight breakout boxes to be used in my math class. I'm requesting utility and field boxes and a variety of locks to create different breakout boxes. The intent is to have up to eight groups of four students per team. Breakout boxes will be used as a review lesson and an ice breaker/community builder at the beginning of the school year.
In order to open the box, it will engage students and have them communicate and learn to work with each other to work towards an end goal of unlocking the box. Having students answer math problems together while trying to open all of the locks within the math period will be much more engaging than handing out worksheets or trying to run a traditional classroom setting 100% of the time.
