I have been researching lately the pros and cons of morning work for students. One thing that resonated with me is the fact that I wouldn't want to come to work and have work already sitting on my table. I like to have a time to transition into my work. Students need the same opportunity to ease into their work day.
When students don't finish their work in the morning or if they are late, then they are already one step behind everyone else. This puts a lot of stress on their little minds and can set the tone for the rest of the school day. My project will allow students to have the opportunity to work in morning tubs. This will be a fun, easy start to the day.
Students will be working on collaborating with others, working in teams, taking responsibility for choices and be engaged in our morning tubs. Items will include arts and craft items such as coloring or play dough. Some bins will have legos and other stem items such as magnetic tiles, wooden blocks, and various other building materials. Some bins will provide imaginary play such as the plastic animals and matchbox cars.
These bins will be a easy transition into the school day. The students can start their day in a fun way and hopefully be ready to learn once the bell rings!
