The Coronavirus has taken its toll on all of us. Not being able to meet my new students in person is very difficult. I will miss the interactions between my students, the conversations while building the train track, a castle, or playing with Play-Doh; these are rich interactions.
I want to bring the classroom into my students' homes. The whiteboards with the letters, the students will be able to print out their names; use the numbers for counting. The paper and pencils will help students practice holding a pencil and writing, which will increase their understanding of literacy.
There is a social and emotional element. The "My Feelings Journal" allows students to address how they feel that day. The journal also allows the students to draw a picture, and write out why they feel this way. During this time of separation, it is very important to check in with students to see how they are coping.
