These books will continue to enhance the print-rich and culturally responsive classroom I hope to create. The books have been chosen with my current student and family population in mind. In the classroom’ lending library, children will have a chance to choose a book to bring home weekly and share with their families. Not only will this foster family involvement in children’s learning, it will also help creat a foundation in literacy in children native language. There are numerous researched tied to the advantages of celebrating children’s identities, whether it be inside or outside of the classroom. Not only will these books foster a culturally responsive classroom, but also build a bridge between the importance of family’s impactful influence on learning.
