Students learn best when they have access to hands-on materials. These place value disks help my students to have a great understanding of ones, tens, hundreds, and even thousands. They will help my students learn how build numbers and eventually help them add and subtract three-digit numbers. These disks help the students to compose and decompose numbers. Currently, my classroom has a limited amount of these place value disks. I would like to have enough so that each student has his/her own to use in our classroom. When students have hands-on materials, they are better able to grasp these concepts.
