One of the most exciting things that 3rd graders look forward to is learning how to write in cursive. Teachers love to teach them, however materials for the instruction are not supplied and therefore, many times, students don't get the correct instruction, guidance, and support for this unique and important form of writing.
Using Handwriting Without Tears is an excellent and scaffolded way of teaching this skill. Students come away with beautiful cursive and the ability to read cursive while using this program than any other program I have seen or tried! Students will receive instruction and independent practice with each letter and combination of letters to eventually writing complete words and sentences in cursive. It is a gentle and guided instruction that shows students how to sit while writing, how to correctly hold a pencil, and the flowing art of combing letters to make words.
