These books will be directly available to my students to use and reference in class. They will be used for practicing research, as well as during Daily 5 instruction. The students will be able to choose books to keep in their book bags to use during read to self time.
As a teacher at a very low socio-economic school, it is vital that I am able to provide my students with resources such as these books to increase their fluency and love for reading throughout the year.
Each student will receive a fidget band to be placed on their chair for a chance to get their fidgets out during instruction without being disruptive. I think it is so important that we provide our students with a means to be able to keep their brains and bodies active throughout the school day.
The classroom mailbox will be used to keep track of student work throughout the weeks before it is sent home in folders on Friday. This will help increase student responsibility as the students will be responsible for placing any papers they wish to keep in their individual mailbox and take them home on Friday for the parents/guardians to see.
