The materials and supplies I have requested will help me to give my students a sense of normalcy in these still unknown times. While we are trying to get back to normal, we still have some limitations. Our recess is only one class at a time and in designated areas. Students asked me for additional classroom equipment to play with during our recess time. I think the variety of playground equipment will help them to feel like they are having a normal recess again.
Social emotional wellness and character building are imperative at this time. Students need to feel secure in their daily routine and safe to voice their needs. Character and social emotional books will help them validate their feelings and allow them to express themselves in a meaningful and positive way.
Having a variety of books that kids are interested in is a must! High interest and low readability are a must in every classroom. Graphic novels are a high commodity in an intermediate elementary classroom!
Finally, having a portable computer will allow me to collect data online while working in small groups. I can also share various sites, resources, and videos with small groups while others are working independently. Any help you can provide will benefit my students to get them back to a "normal" routine.
