Because our Women's Studies Class is an elective, there is no funding for this class. I have to come up with all the materials and items. The class will learn about events, laws that impacted women throughout history. Our focus will be more about the Women's Liberation movement.
I believe the "Feminine Mystique" is such a groundbreaking book, it stands the test of time! If my students can read this book in our class, they will understand the need for a movement as monumental as the Women's Liberation. To understand the fruit, you must first plant the root, and this book does just that. It shows us what women were dealing with and I hope to spark many discussions with it. This book will help develop Socratic seminars in my class. It will be the groundwork for our class discussion and ultimately our end of year project. I admire the women of this movement.
