My classroom is filled with 29 independent and intriguing students. Each one of them comes to school each day eager to discuss ideas and experiences from their lives. Space satellites, squirmy compost worms, and basketball stars. My students love to learn about topics that matter to them. Our school of about 350 is located near the center of our city. We have many students whose families are working hard to make ends meet. Exciting, relevant non-fiction reading is not available to most of my students. Scholastic News could change all of that.
