I teach algebra 1A, financial algebra, and analytical mathematics. The use of these calculators will help my students be more successful in computing functions such as logarithms, trigonometry functions, and graphing. Not all of my students are able to afford one of these graphing calculators. With this addition to my inventory, every student in my classroom will have equal access to technology in order to make certain calculations and graphs.
With these calculators, my students will have more experience so they will be ACT and college and career ready. This will allow for improvement in test scores. With the use of these calculators, we will be able to look at graphs in depth -- we will look at how a function behaves when it is graphed. Also we will be able to model a business by examining scatter plots, analyzing graphs of expense and revenue, and supply and demand curves.
We are a previous Title 1 school. We are currently Title 2. A lot of our kids do not have access to graphing calculators; moreover, they may not have access to internet as well. Adding these calculators to my inventory will give all of my students the readiness they need for standardized tests, class assignments or projects that heavily involve graphing or using special functions, and modeling the financial real world.
