Block play offers an open-ended, creative and valuable play and learning experience available to every setting. Having a block area in my classroom would provide the students with an opportunity to develop fine motor skills, explore their imagination, social skills and incorporate their prior knowledge within the classroom. Playing with blocks helps children develop their vocabulary, improves math skills, and even teaches them about gravity, balance, and geometry. They learn how to describe colors, shapes, sizes and positions as they build various structures. A good supply of blocks and accessories to enhance children's play make the Block area interesting for children.
