This classroom is a extracurriculuar activity group/team that serves 10-15 students each year who are interested in learning or enhancing their STEM skills through a competitive robot challenge. The robot challenge comes from competing in a world-wide organization called FIRST. The students need to design, construct, modify, and test a robot to meet a series of challenges each season. They must also conduct outreach events that promote STEM and FIRST robotics, maintain an engineering notebook of all their work, and conduct/organize fundraising events to purchase registration and go to competitions in the FIRST robotics series. The team belongs to the First Tech Challenge portion of the FIRST series of robotics programs. This is designed from students 7th-12th grade students anywhere but Michigan. In Michigan the FTC program is solely for 6th-8th grade students only.
