My students will be able to see science in action and test concepts within the Utah standard core and improve their vocabulary in English and in the second language (Portuguese).
I have found that they learn better if there are props and demonstrations to show them the concepts such as water cycle, weather, fossils, rocks and soils and habitats. When they see science in action they get excited and want to learn more.
My students are able to take the challenge of learning scientific concepts and formulate hypothesis, find solutions, and make inference in a second language!
With the magnifiers and flashlights they will be able to differentiate between different types of rocks and fossils and their characteristics. The volcano will help them discover how igneous rocks are formed.
The Hydroponic lab is to show students the necessary components to grow plants and that it is possible to grow without soil as long as we provide the plant with all the right components.
With the thermometers, anemometer, weather vane and binoculars the students will have a meteorologist's experience in measuring and predicting the weather. The tornado tool will help them experience severe weather in the classroom.
