To help support my students as they are challenged to learn more each day, I want to be able to provide my students with the opportunity to release energy as they learn by having multiple seating options around the classroom for students to sit in. Flexible seating supports student learning by giving young scholars the opportunity to move, helping blood flow throughout the body, and helping students stay alert and focused. Likewise, having several types of seating options excite students, making them eager to participate in activities, giving them a way to move while learning in a productive way.
As an educator, I want my students to feel at home in our classroom so that they are comfortable taking risks. Gone are the days of straight row desks and quiet classrooms. Instead, in my classroom, I want learning to be exciting for students; I want students moving, talking, and engaged in their activities. The goal of this project, is to give students flexibility in their seating, so that they are comfortable as they learn. Likewise, having seating options such as 鈥淲obble Chairs鈥, and 鈥淏alance Balls,鈥 students are given a physical challenge to release energy through movement while they are simultaneously challenged academically as they complete activities. Giving students the opportunity to move, rock, and bounce as they complete assignments will give students the chance to wiggle in a productive way, enhancing their focus on the task at hand.
