We are requesting materials that are needed to help students create an underwater robot designed to pick up materials from the bottom of the sea--or rather a pool; recreating retrieval of authentic items.
For example, pool rings will be used to simulate old tires and the ROV must remove them from the bottom of the sea. The fishing lures simulate real fish and we have to transport them safely to another area for breeding. The bicycle pump will be used to inflate a lift bag in order to bring a cannon to the surface. They will have to perform water quality tests with the pH and phosphate kits.
The students will learn environmental responsibility, engineering, math as well as, entrepreneurial skills necessary to create a fictitious company. The students will be judged on their company presentation and their robotic demonstration. This opportunity will allow them to experience success through teamwork and authentic learning while in school. Thanks for helping us get lost at sea!
