Sitting ‘Criss cross, applesauce’ on the floor for some 4-6 year old children is a really hard thing to do! Some need physical boundaries to help them see/feel where their bodies are in space. Some just NEED to move. And sitting at a desk or table could be even harder! Traditional chairs were not designed for little ones. Most are not at the proper height nor provide enough or too much structure. Introducing FLEXIBLE seating options. My project will allow for the various sensory and movement needs so my students can move when they need to, and have comfortable options so they can be most available to learn when they do need to sit. I teach in both kindergarten and first grade inclusive settings, with some children with special needs who learn alongside their typically developing peers. EVERYONE gets what they need! No cookie-cutters in my rooms. I would like to have a variety of options for both my rooms to meet the diverse needs of all of my students in both classrooms. This project will allow me to purchase 7 items for each room. Thank you for reading - and for your support!
