These tablets will allow me to duplicate myself 12 times! With a tablet at each activity I will no longer have to waste precious small group instruction time setting students up into their literacy and math centers by giving them refreshers on how to complete the activity they have selected. Instead, students will log in to Seesaw and have video directions right at their finger tips! More importantly, students will also be able to document what they did in each center, and checking as well as sharing work with families will be as easy as a swipe of a finger!
My campus has taken the leap to digital student portfolios using Seesaw, and having a tablet at each center will help students document their learning progress through the medium of their choosing. It will also help document which Multiple Intelligence they choose to use the most and least. This is great evidence for the students and parents to understand which intelligence they are most keen to use and which "smart" could use a good stretch.
Every two weeks when I change out centers, I will record myself giving instructions for each of the twelve different literacy and math activity bins . When a student selects their literacy center for the day they will first open the tablet to Seesaw and look for the bin name and picture of their activity, e.g. Musical and Rhythmic Intelligence: Row, Row, Row Your Boat Sight Words. Then students will click on the video of me guiding them through the activity and modeling the output. After students practice or complete the task, they will document their learning by taking a picture or video of their progress and submit it for approval. Once it is approved, families are notified and learning is verifiable.
