The learning tools I chose will help my students practice sight word recognition, phonics, letter recognition, and sentence building. These tools will allow them go at their own pace, use their hands, and facilitate them attending to a task while being able to stand and wiggle as they need to. Having these tools will also help eliminate some of their frustrations with writing skills. The magnetic shapes will help build skills necessary to meet state math standards. These resources will be extremely helpful when working with students functioning at different skill levels. I have a small group with students who are almost two grade levels apart in their ELA skills. Having a set of letters to work with and a set of words to work with will enable each to focus on individual skills. Likewise, having several sand trays will allow for students to work at their own rate and on different concepts, while still working in the same group time.
My goal is to provide students with tools that fit their specific learning needs. My students need to be able to wiggle and use their hands constructively. It helps them concentrate, complete tasks, and process information. This set of hands-on learning tools would be a benefit to each of my students.
