This is the first time in 2 years that we have been back in the classroom full time learning. Our students have been learning from home virtually due to the pandemic. While learning from home, students did not have the typical "chair" seating. My students love interacting, playing and collaborating with one another which is not conductive to sitting in chairs for long periods of time.
My students are active 9 and 10 year olds who love learning.
I plan to replace some of the traditional chairs in the classroom with wiggle seats, balance stools and portable laptop tables. Students will be able to choose which seat they would like to use. Giving students the choice of what seat meets their needs gives them ownership in their own learning. Keeping students engaged in the classroom lesson, while getting their wiggles out is a win/win! Students will no longer be confined to assigned seats but will be given the gift of choice.
