My 3rd and 4th grade students are brilliant, kind, enthusiastic, and curious students. They are also struggling readers. We love reading in my classroom! It is how we start and end each day and it is a reward for going above and beyond! Books from this project like "The Color Monster" will help my students to express and name their feelings and "Sophia Valdez Future Prez" will inspire them to create big goals! .
With these new books my students will read stories with characters that look like them, books they can read independently to foster a love of literacy and of reading! So many of the books they have access to do not represent students who look like them. This projects will bring my students books that show Black and Brown students in an authentic and culturally responsive way.
These books will be added to my classroom library; a place I grow each year to reflect my student's interests. My students learn about the world through reading and are so excited to add these books to our collection
