I am going to use these books to teach literary circles within my classroom instruction about social justice issues and how students can help resolve these injustices we see every day. Specifically, each of these books deals with a social injustice and how the main character comes to deal with this or has a character trying to break away from societal norms. I am hoping that by having a range of texts for students to choose from, I will be able to reach the individual interests of each student. I will pair these texts with "Speak" and "Mississippi Trial, 1955" that my library already has.
