Throughout our day, the pre-kinder kids are given opportunities for self choice. They direct their own learning and the teachers are responsible for introducing them to new experiences. All of this is done with best practices in mind. Pre-kinder kids are active and curious and see the world through many different lenses. A lot of times that means that things can get messy. Fine motor activities lead to beads, tiny bits of paper, or sand on the floor. Natural objects in the science center lead to bits of leaves, scrapings of bark, and grass dropped onto the carpet. Unfortunately, we don't have the custodial staff to help us maintain a clean environment.
Our Pre-kinder classes would benefit from a vacuum cleaner, because these kids deserve to learn and explore in a classroom that is clean and free of debris. With our supportive pre-kinder staff members, the carpets would be vacuumed daily, leading to better health for our kids and a safer environment for our kids. The healthier our kids are, the more likely they are to attend school and have a positive learning experience.
