Last year I implemented Fun Fridays in our classroom. The kids loved this time and I would like to do this again. My struggle was that I didn't have a variety of materials to set out each week. The kids were usually presented with the same activities/choices each Friday. It is my hope that I will be able to rotate the activities and/or materials each week so that the kids will continue to be motivated to work for Fun Friday.
Throughout the week, kids have opportunities to earn golden tickets by good demonstrating great choices, hard work, acts of kindness, being an example to others, helping others, etc. Each time a student earns a golden ticket, he/she puts it into her envelope. At the end of the week, each student empties their envelope and meets on the rug with their golden tickets. The student or students with the most golden tickets has the opportunity to choose their activity first. Each student will have the opportunity to choose an activity, but the more tickets a student has ensures them an earlier choice of activity.
I have requested several activities that give the kids an opportunity to collaborate, share and socialize with others. This time every week is a big part of showing the kids how hard work can be rewarding.
