One of the greatest links between home and school is literacy. It is no surprise that children who read succeed; we know that literacy creates opportunity. Yet, so many students are without books in their homes.
The students in my classroom family become enchanted with the stories they read! They identify with and make connections to the characters. In a word, they simply get carried away. We read daily, multiple times a day, and the students always beg to take the books home.
I have tried the teacher hacks we all know so well. The classic "ZipLoc and duct tape, teacher on a budget" bag. This year, I even tried the "dollar store folder with zipper pouch" upgrade. But, it's December and they are already DOA. Literally, they are falling apart and the students are not making it home with their books.
The bags I am asking for are durable, provide space for students to take home multiple books for continued literacy support, and most importantly... have been kid tested!
