On this journey, students will meet and emulate engaging STEM career role models working in a range of relevant, impactful healthcare jobs, and they will deeply consider the opportunities and challenges that advances in biology present for themselves and their communities. Along the way, they will build their scientific literacy and practice essential STEM skills, including data analysis, design and engineering, software coding, critical thinking, and effective communication. Living Well curriculum explores the wonders of biology鈥攆rom the molecular building blocks of life, to cells, organs and organ systems, to the human body as an interconnected whole, and even the behavior of populations鈥攖hrough the prism of human health and disease. The foundational lessons of this curriculum will introduce the core building blocks of life: Proteins (Tools of Life), DNA (Code of Life), and Cells (Units of Life). The curriculum would introduce fundamental concepts for and generate interest in further study in secondary education, specifically Bio-medicine and Health and Exercise Physiology pathways.
JASON's new unit for 2018-19 is called Living Well and will reinforce and extend the 7th grade life science units of Cells to Organisms, Energy Transformations in Living Things, Adaptations of Life Over Time, and Health and Decision Making. JASON will also introduce topics covered in 8th grade curricular unit of Variation and Diversity. Jason is one of the most comprehensive and well-designed science curriculum's available, because it elevates real-world, real-time, real data with real scientists as an integral aspect of the lessons. Jason Learning partners with NASA, NOAA, National Geographic, Dell, Smithsonian Museum, STEM Connector, and Earthwatch Institute to digitally bring professionals for interactive events and to serve as STEM role models for students. My school will work to find funds to cover the student access fees. I need help with funds to cover the teacher training fees.
