More and more of our students are reporting symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, and low self-esteem. Students cannot learn if they are feeling overwhelmed with emotions to serious issues that cannot be discussed in a classroom setting full of their peers. This has been an issue that has occurred more and more frequently and sending them to the counselor is not helping. At times, they simply need a quiet place to sit for a few minutes to unwind and release their emotions. This quiet place will allow for reflection and perhaps even offer a setting that may be more conducive for a real conversation about the issue at hand.
Many students have reported suicidal thoughts and an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness. We have amazing students who work hard and are highly motivated. They know the importance of their GPA, state test scores and passing grades. By allowing them this opportunity for a quiet space, they will be able to minimize their time outside of class and stay focused when they are present in class. Please help us improve the mental state of our amazing students.
