All of our students want to learn to create an animation using 3D modeling clay. Currently we do not have the technology or clay materials to create animations. Over the past three years my artists have enjoyed building with found objects and creating art in 3D. This process guides the artists through problem solving and strategizing a structure that can stand or move. This offers artists a chance to dialogue and support one another. The best part of the animation projects is that they have an opportunity to create the character(s) with the clay for the story and then use technology of the iPad to animate their storyline.
Our artists will engage with ELA & Math concepts in the art class by creating stories to animate with the clay and iPads. This supports arts integration across multiple subjects within the creative process. The iPad and clay will be a permanent station within the art class. Artists will be able to plan and use the station to create their projects. Their final animations will be presented online to share with others.
