My students like to move, touch, and make sounds! While this might be good for them, it is not always good for everyone else around them. Allowing students to squirm and rock and tap and be little sound machines is okay, as long as it doesn't interfere with the learning of others.
Creating subject specific learning centers that provide tactile freedom, will help all of my students learn to the best of their abilities. My students will be rotating to different tables throughout the day. Having pockets on the back of their chairs will allow them to easily move their materials around with them. Wobble chairs and seat cushions will allow students with sensory needs to maintain their focus while getting their squirms out.
