My classroom has 2 iPads and 2 cd players in the way of technology. My students are eager to learn and are ecstatic when they get a turn to use the iPad. But, with 20 students, their turn and time on the technology is very limited.
Using iPads as a teaching tool in Pre-K encompasses more than just the use of technology but collaboration and socialization as well. iPads are mobile which makes it possible for students to engage in conversations and work together as they solve a puzzle or listen to an interactive story.
The use of iPads also increases vocabulary and socialization due to the fact that small groups of children can see the screen and the touchscreens are easily manipulated. This technology is in our world right now but it is also their future.
