I'm the media specialist at a small, rural K-8 school in Alabama. We serve approximately 200 students. Approximately 75% of our students participate in the free and reduced lunch program. The school is the heart of our community, but like so many others, our community is facing many challenges. Our library is facing its own set of challenges because budget cut-backs the last several years have left us with very little money to purchase new books. This means our students will potentially miss out on some wonderful learning opportunities.
