Hello, my name is Karina Macias, and I teach 9th grade. I teach my students academics as well as life skills. This year, I want to concentrate on teaching my students how to cook.
Students with autism learn by having real life items in front of them. This is why I would love to have the portable oven along with the other cooking materials (pans, utensils, and measuring cups) in my classroom. I plan on teaching my students how to bake brownies, cakes, cupcakes, pizzas, and more.
I plan on teaching my students how to use the items. Every Friday, my students will have a different item to bake. I will teach my students how to measure the ingredients using the measuring cup. They will mix all of the ingredients together using the utensils, and, lastly, they will pour the ingredients into the appropriate pans. My students will learn how to use the portable oven appropriately.
I hope that my students will get to the point where they are able to prepare their own meals independently.
I speak on behalf of me and my students when I say, "Thank you!"
