These books will continue to enhance the classroom library I have established for my students. Our classroom library is a place of peace, exploration, and much enjoyment! My students spend countless hours each week selecting books of their choice, reading independently, reading and sharing books with their peers, and even retreating there for a quiet place to work or calm down.
Through literature, students are able to see themselves and make connections to situations that arise in the lives of characters. These books have been carefully selected to cover a wide range of Social and Emotional Learning skills. COVID-19 changed many aspects of my students’ daily lives at home and at school. I have seen students deal with emotions and issues that previously were not as prominent as they are now. As a classroom teacher, I have made it a priority to teach my students social and emotional learning skills to help students understand, cope with, and regulate their own emotions.
With this collection of books, I will be able to support the social and emotional learning in my classroom while also providing a print-rich classroom where students have the ability and opportunity to grow their love of reading!
