My students need fabulous books that will help them master their fluency in order to help them become fluent readers. The authors I chose are highly recommended in helping my students master their sight words and be able to recognize the 60 high frequency, irregular sight words as well.
They love going to our library and fight over the fiction texts available.
They enjoy going to the library weekly. They rush to the fiction section of our library to find a book to check out. Our library has a limited amount of books for my second graders therefore I am anxious to purchase some fiction books for my class that they will have success in reading. Most of my students do not have any books at home to read. It will be thrilling for them to have the opportunity to read and cherish these books in our room.
My students will have unlimited access to these fiction books in my classroom. They can also take Accelerated Reader tests on the books that they have read. The books also support our Common Core Second grade standards as well.
My class will be thrilled if our project is funded. I can't wait to introduce my students to Frog and Toad, Henry and Mudge, George and Martha, Piggie and Gerald, Harry the dog, Danny the dinosaur, Paddington Bear, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and the fabulous stories from Syd Hoff. They are avid readers and I'm thrilled to promote their love of reading.
