In the age of COVID-19, students are less engaged and focused on learning than in previous school years. Providing them with visual and tactile learning supports will increase engagement and learning. Visual and tactile supports will provide much needed scaffolding for our ELL students as well. Pre- k students learn best through their senses, exploration and manipulation. The items I have chosen provide students with tangible activities to practice skills in the various learning domains. The magnetic alphabet monkeys provide hands on alphabet recognition practice. The science items I chose allow students to explore the world of science and provide opportunities for them to inquire and ask questions. The audio phonetic awareness will give our Ell students extra small group practice with skills that come more naturally to English speaking students. Learning occurs naturally when students are given the opportunity to engage in their own exploration and investigation of learning.
