As a special education classroom, we will benefit from flexible seating options. Wobble chairs will assist my students that have extreme issues with sitting in a stationary chair or a chair with a back. At times the back of a chair can cause a sensory distraction so a stool without a back will allow for a seating option that will promote learning without extra distractions. At times self-regulation skills are a real challenge and students will benefit from the therapy bands by assisting them to stay focused in both the regular education classroom and the special education classroom. Students with Cognitive Delays and with Autism benefit from sensory stimulation and the sensory boards will encourage sensory exploration, especially on those days when concentration is a bit off. Sensory play can help kids with autism calm down, it can stimulate their senses, and assist in developing important skills needed to promote learning across school environments.
The items we have chosen will help us create an adaptive, stimulating, welcoming and inclusive educational environment. Thank you for helping us to learn effectively!
