Providing students with a variety of seating options helps them make choices that work best for them. Throughout the school day, students have a variety of options to decide how they wish to complete their work. While some remain at their seats, others use the scoot chairs or rugs with clipboards. Others might decide to work at different tables, or stretch out on the rug. When students are comfortable they are then motivated to do their best learning.
I'm hoping with the additional seating options, students will look forward to making more effective learning choices. As I have provided more choices, I have seen students excited to come into the classroom and get to work. Alternative seating will help me meet the needs of my students.
The materials requested; wobble chairs, inflatable donut balls, balance balls and discs can help students move and flex without leaving their seat. They also provide students with stability and flexibility, relief from sore muscles and stiff joints, while also allowing a wide range of movement at large desk or work areas.
