These items will help my students strengthen their muscles in order to prepare them to hold a pencil or grasp objects such as cups. Learning these skills will help them develop what they need to be successful as they grow older and allow them to keep up with their typical peers. Manipulatives will also help my students with hand/eye coordination and learning how things do or don't fit together. The builders in the first manipulative library will allow my students to build 3D structures and in the second manipulative library will allow them to extend the learning from the 1st batch. The two magnetic puzzles help them refine their fine motor skills and prepare them for grasping writing implements in the future.
Other ways manipulatives can help young children are by increasing their spatial awareness, practicing problem solving skills, and fostering language opportunities between themselves and their peers. They also allow young children to be creative and use their imagination!
