This project will focus on helping the students work towards developing their job skills. We would like to embark on a multifaceted project that mimics a potential work environment. I am so excited to create this opportunity for my students with special needs to participate in a routine that mimics a real world workplace. I just need your support to assist with kickstarting our workshop by helping us to procure the supplies we need!
We hope to create a self-sustaining workshop. Students will help start and then keep our workshop running. They will work together to take and prepare orders. Create a homemade product - each of our bath products will be created with love by our students! Finally, students will rotate through stations to work on wrapping, packaging, and delivering our supply. As students work through each station, they will improve receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language skills. We will also incorporate the use of technology in order to decrease prompt levels and increase the students ability to participate in each task with the utmost level of independence. Most importantly, I hope to provide our students with a structured environment that will motivate them to continue to build transitional skills that will allow them to thrive in the community in the future!
