When students exercising their bodies, they are also exercising their minds. I want my students to become more attentive in the classroom during our long periods of testing and classwork. Exercising during math will help students focus on their math facts in and out of the classroom. It could also give the students the energy to do well in school and build teammwork.
One thing students have difficulty with are their math facts. Using the dice, students will be able to engage in an activity where they are rolling the dice to determine an exercise, and rolling again to multiply that by a certain fact/number to determine their strides. The cones, balls, Frisbees will be used with multiples and factors. I would set them out in our school field with numbers, students will roll the dice to determine which number is a multiple or factor and run, crab walk, to it. The hula hoops will be used for a multiplication hoop hop challenge. Students would also be able to sit on the stability balls when coming back into the room for independent work. Also for students that just need to get a little extra wiggle out!
