Students will be learning the process of block printing. My students need rubber blocks, ink, and nice Brayers. They will carve out their image in the rubber blocks with their carving tools, and then they will roll ink on their block using the Brayers. After they have rolled a generous amount of ink on the printing block, they will press it down on their paper. The great thing about printmaking is the block can be used multiple times, so they can take it home and use it again if they would like to.
After each person has printed their image on paper, they will put their artwork together with their group to create a collaborative work of art. Each person will print enough in their series for each person in their group to have a copy.
