I currently teach 5th graders in a classroom that does NOT have air conditioning in a city in Colorado which often sees temperatures in August and September in the 90鈥檚. This creates an environment for my students which is often VERY uncomfortable and at times difficult to learn or concentrate. Recently, our school experienced a day so hot that with the combining temperature outside and the ovens from the cafeteria, it actually set off our fire alarms TWICE because the conditions inside the building were so hot. The majority of our windows do not open and the fans just circulate the hot air. Having a portable air conditioner in our room would greatly improve our classroom conditions and help students overall.
