I am hoping to creating a calming corner in my classroom with these tools! These tools are great because they allow for an escape in my classroom. They know that when they are starting to feel agitated or escalated that they can remove themselves from that situation.
With the headphones, I am hoping to get my students on several educational websites such as raz kids and iready. With the bean bag, I will be putting that in my calming corner so my kids have a comfortable place to sit down and decompress. With the fidget toys, those would also be used in the calming corner. The rulers and dry erase sleeves would be used directly by the kids on several occasions. The dry erase sleeves make it so any worksheet can now be used with a dry erase marker. The math cubes would be used for helping my students who are visual learners!
I am hoping to teach them how to self monitor- so they can enter into society being able to control their emotions- and work well with others. I love teaching, and this will be a new experience for me.
Special education students need to be loved like any other, and it is my goal to help them with these materials!
