In my classroom, the students have access to many tools that help them to practice math skills. However, these items are usually not available at home. The die cuts will allow me to provide sets of math manipulatives for students to use at home, to create projects and to further explore math concepts.
Hands on experience with tangible items is vital to the development of mathematical concepts. We use manipulatives almost every day, but student learning should be reinforced in other settings. When students have sets that they can take home and practice with, it will help to boost their learning.
Because these items will be housed in the common area for all teachers at Weatherbee Elementary to use, all students will have the opportunity to benefit from these die cuts.
