We made the decision to move from desk-top computers to iPads in our classroom because the computers were cumbersome for our small students to use. The touch screens often did not work and our students had a difficult time using the mouse and would often click their way out of the learning programs they were using. We secured one iPad through our program office last year and found students preferred the iPad more than the computer. They were able to work independently and completed more work on the iPad.
We have found that the use of technology devices, such as the iPad, are motivational for many of our students and they attend to learning tasks for longer periods of time. Your donation will allow our young students to launch the development of independent learning skills as well as access individualized learning programs geared toward their specific needs.
We need an additional iPad to allow more than one student to work at a time. We currently utilize the iPad in our activity center that promotes independent learning skills for each child. The iPad will be used by each child to do a discrete trial learning program that is highly motivational and collects data on each child鈥檚 progress.
