My students lack materials and resources for learning math. They love hands-on activities which is why the LEGO set and pan balance scale are a great resource for them. As we are currently learning about measurement, students have been learning how to compare different weights. For this, the brass mass set and liter measurement set are great tools to use to find exact measurements. All of us are excited about building and creating things. In our last LEGO project, we built a spaceship together.
Current events is important to everybody which is why Scholastic News would be a great resource for them. When we go over current events, we like to write on chart paper to be displayed for everyone to see. The mobile teaching easel helps us write our current events on the chart paper, and also to move it out of the way when we need to see the board. Our class is also using letter cards to learn how to sound out words. A pocket chart for our vocabulary words will help students to visualize words, and makes for a great interactive tool for students. Our classroom is not that big so an all-purpose teaching cart where students can access supplies such as reusable write/wipe pockets, would make a big difference for them.
