In Kindergarten, while a teacher works with different small groups, the rest of the class is expected to be engaged in independent work. This work is either reading, writing, or building the sight words in tactile hands-on ways. These materials will help keep students engaged in a variety of ways so that I can be a more effective teacher with my small reading groups.
Often, each group is working on something different. Some examples are in the word work group, students will be building letters or sight words using the wikki sticks, reading from RAZ kids on the computers using the new headphones, or painted pictures of things that begin with the letter of the week.
