I am so excited to introduce flexible seating into my classroom! All of the items on my list will help to create a safe and engaging environment in which my students can learn comfortably. I have included seating options for the floor like beanbag chairs and rugs, as well as benches and a table and chair set. I have also included a loveseat to provide my students with even more comfortable options. Flexible seating is a great way to contribute to a student centered environment, and create an inviting classroom community. Flexible seating is often used in lower grades, but big kids in high school deserve comfort and relaxation too! Too often classrooms for high school students, especially students of color and those in low income communities, are relegated to unpleasant rows of desks, with warmth and comfort being low on the priority list. My kids deserve better- I can't wait to give them the classroom they deserve!
